Confession

Ok, so because I'm in such a Poppy mood, you have the fortune (or misfortune, depending on how you look at it) of being introduced to Elva Hsiao - one of the few Taiwanese pop princesses that has managed to maintain her reign for the past several years. Most of her songs kinda suck, but I like this one.

So Blah Numero Dos y Tres

Tis the season to embrace some Top-40s. But what happened to the sounds of the power-house hit-making women who succeeded so well in the 90s? Alas, like Madonna's "Hard Candy", Mariah's "E=MC" and Janet's "Discipline" are rather forgettable and incomparable to what they once had.

Despite the generic sounding meh-ness from Mariah & Janet, I'm relieved to find at least one solid track from each.

I like this song too (you will have to ignore the stupid video though)

So Blah

Le Madgesty's new album leaked a couple of days ago. Personally, I would say don't even bother searching for it, but maybe it's just me, def not what I expected, where are the way catchy melodies and the mad thumping rhythms?
Some of the acceptable songs that I will try putting on my playlist for a while include 'Beat Goes On', 'Incredible' and 'Devil Wouldn't Recognize You'.
Must say though, '4 Minutes' is kind of an awful song (unless it turns into a 'SexyBack' for me, which I didn't like initially and then realized the genius after several listens, hmm).

Superflat

Finally went to the "Murakami" exhibit at "The Brooklyn Museum" over the weekend. Quite impressed - the collection was satisfyingly comprehensive. Spent a solid 2 hours in there (still need to check out the actual museum sometime). Although, completely agreed with a comment made by some dude in the lift "it would have been perfect if we could take photos". The smiling flowers and 'my lonesome cowboy' (NSFW - Google at own risk) will be around till July 13th - worth dropping a few bucks to see why Kanye West loves this guy.

And if you wanna be cheap and forgo the special exhibition, give the Target sponsored free first Sats (of the month) a shot.

Here is the one photo I managed to take in the stairwell - lame, yes I know:

OMFG

"NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- In a move that seems to run counter to the habits of viewers who love the teen drama "Gossip Girl," the network that airs the series said it will not stream the next five episodes online."

I hope CW knows it ain't movin' forward with a move like this. Nevertheless ... I sat myself down and actually tuned in old-school last night cuz, well, Gossip Girl is kinda too delicious to resist. Omg what are u doing Little J, Omg who's G, Omg what's B gonna do ...

So in continuation with my Gossip Girl tribute-like post, best NYMag cover in a while, no?

Where's Waldo?

Somewhere in Vancouver - when it will start showing up on Google Earth and exact location is undisclosed - the charm and the fun comes from the search of course.

(Random: 'Waldo' vs. 'Wally' - I grew up with 'Waldo' but apparently in the original British version, it was 'Wally')

Braindead

Despite it being only midnight (and after sleeping for twelve hours last night) I can no longer think straight ... sooo, I'm taking a break from prepping for the GMATs. It doesn't take much to convince me to stop.
Alas, I haven't been diligent about studying at all! I took a course last summer which should have acted as a catalyst for some serious practice-question-action , but in essence the realization of how much material I needed to review only scared me into denial.
Hm, I figure if I announce my plan to take the test to the world I will actually feel some pressure to study harder and take the damn thing by the end of this summer (cross fingers).
Also, my online test prep material is set to expire in a month (after I convinced the Kaplan people to renew my subscription - don't think I could do it again). I am curious to see how I will complete 6 weeks of homework material and several full practice exams in the next 4 weeks.
Ahh ... why am I getting serious about this when the weather is finally getting nice again?
